A reference post rather than a discussion. Corrections are the point; I would rather this be right than mine. It is about cross-border ordering, and it is deliberately narrow — everything I am not confident about is marked as such.

What is actually established

The variables that decide how a cross-border order goes are declaration wording, the destination country's import rules for prescription medicines, and whether the shipment looks commercial. Personal-import allowances exist in some jurisdictions and not in others, and where they exist they are usually conditional on a prescription and a quantity limit. The failure mode is normally a seizure notice rather than anything worse, and a reshipment policy is the thing worth confirming before ordering rather than after.

The condition it depends on

Cold chain is the underrated risk on long routes. A shipment held at a border for a week has had a temperature excursion whether or not it arrives.

What I am not sure about

What I actually want to know is which of the variables in a cross-border order actually determine the outcome, and which are superstition. I have searched first, so if this is covered somewhere point me at it and I will read it.

International shipping tracking for cross-border ordering orders: my experience with customs in the US when ordering from overseas:

Seized and destroyed — had to get a reshipped package.

Tips: always include a copy of your prescription, declare medication properly on customs forms, keep quantities reasonable (personal use = 3 month supply max), and use a vendor who has experience shipping to your country.

This is where I part company with the consensus forming above. Import rules are jurisdiction-specific and this board keeps giving US-shaped answers to non-US questions. What is a personal-import allowance in one country is a controlled-import offence in another.

My experience ordering cross-border ordering internationally: I've ordered from an Australian compounder. Customs can be hit or miss.

Shipping time: 5-10 days
Customs clearance: was seized once, reshipped free
Quality: Janoshik tested at 98.6% purity

International ordering adds complexity but can save 60-80% compared to US prices. Research your country's import laws first.

This is my experience too, for whatever a second data point is worth. The detail I would add is minor and it is already implied above.
