Adding the numbers, since they settle part of this. Worth stating the units and the reference range whenever you post a number here. A large fraction of the apparent disagreement in these threads is two people using different units and both being right.

Whether the fasting requirement is as strict in practice as the label implies, and what people actually see when they get it wrong?

Coming at quinn_sf’s question from a different direction. The distinction that resolves most of these threads is between what is true on average and what is true for one person. Both are real; they answer different questions and get quoted as if they were the same one.

Reporting back.

Follow-up: moving the tablet to the moment I wake, before anything else, was the whole fix. The dose never changed.

That is correct as far as it goes, and here is where it stops going. The absorption variability is real, but it partly averages out over weeks — the steady-state trough is less erratic than any single day would suggest. Where it bites is in the first fortnight, when people conclude the tablet does nothing.
