I have used three payment routes and the only thing that changed with each was how much leverage I had when something went wrong.

So the question, as narrowly as I can put it: how people are thinking about the trade-off between reversibility and privacy, because you cannot have both.

Not looking for reassurance. Looking for the part I have got wrong.

Answering the narrow version, because the broad one does not have a single answer. It is worth asking what the claim would look like if it were false. If nothing would look different, it is not a claim about the world and no amount of discussion will settle it.

Correct as far as it goes. The part it does not cover is what to do when the honest answer is "not enough data", which is more often than anyone likes.

This is my experience too, for whatever a second data point is worth. The detail I would add is minor and it is already implied above.

From the other side of the consultation, briefly. Start from the measurement rather than the conclusion. Almost every disagreement here turns out to be two people measuring different things and comparing the numbers anyway.
