I'm going to share all of this with my sister. I think she's been comparing herself to people on TikTok posting their massive weight loss numbers without realizing most of those people don't have diabetes. Context matters so much.

This is super relevant to me. I have prediabetes (A1C 6.1) and just started sema. Does prediabetes put me in the "diabetic response" camp or the "non-diabetic response" camp?

The STEP trials excluded patients with overt T2DM in STEP 1 but included patients with prediabetes. So prediabetic patients were actually in the "non-diabetic" group that saw the 14.9% weight loss. A secondary analysis showed that weight loss was similar between normoglycemic and prediabetic participants in STEP 1.

Bonus: STEP 1 showed that semaglutide significantly reduced the progression from prediabetes to T2DM. So you're in a good spot — catching it early.

This whole thread should be stickied honestly. The number of people (myself included until 5 minutes ago) who don't understand that T2DM fundamentally changes the response to semaglutide is probably really high.
