A sustained drop to 1,100 or 1,200 calories reliably under-delivers a predictable set: B12, vitamin D, iron, folate, zinc and magnesium.

Iron studies on micronutrients — important especially for women:

MarkerBaselineMonth 6After Supplementation
Ferritin562456
Iron866194
TIBC336406346
Transferrin Sat32%16%27%

My ferritin cratered at month 6 from reduced dietary intake. Iron bisglycinate 36mg with vitamin C brought it back up. Don't wait for anemia symptoms — test proactively.

Following on from VendorMark — and this may be the naive question:

How long did you give it before you decided it was working?

Coming at HPLC_Greg’s question from a different direction. Whatever the answer turns out to be, the method for getting there is the same: state the assumption, do the arithmetic in public, and invite the correction. That is slower than asserting, and it is the only version that survives being wrong.

Closing the loop on my own question.

Closing the loop. The answer turned out to depend on the detail I had left out of the opening post, which is a lesson about how to ask rather than about the subject.

Agreed, and the size of the effect matters as much as its existence. Something real and small gets treated here as though it were real and decisive.

That is the short version; the long version is somebody else's post.
